This is our chance to bring back nature

Right now, politicians are negotiating a new EU law to better protect and restore nature. This law is long overdue, because the abundance and diversity of wildlife in the EU is shrinking at an alarming rate.

We need a strong law that obliges our governments to restore degraded ecosystems.

Not only will this bring back nature, it will also help us to slow down climate change. We cannot solve the climate crisis without the help of nature!

This law is our chance to make space for nature again.

But some politicians don’t want this new EU law. They are falsely claiming it will make it harder for farmers, foresters and fishers to make a living. The truth is, without healthy ecosystems, these sectors cannot exist. In fact, nature restoration benefits farmers, foresters and fishers and allows them to do their jobs!

That is why we need to tell our ministers that we need a strong law to bring back nature.

We need a law that:

• Obliges our governments to rewet drained peatlands
• Directs them to makes our rivers flow freely again
• Ensures that all farms leave enough space for nature
• Unblocks the protection and restoration of marine habitats
• Gets us more green and blue spaces in cities
• Promotes ecological forest management.
