Climate change is no longer a distant warning. It is happening around us, shaping our weather, our cities, our food systems and the lives of millions of people. But there is good news. Together, we can still choose a safer, fairer and greener future. We, the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament work every day to turn climate ambition into real change that protects people and the planet
Across Europe, people are already feeling the impact of climate change. Heatwaves are becoming more intense. Floods and storms are striking more often. Farmers face unpredictable weather. Coastal communities see the sea rising. These challenges hit people with fewer resources the hardest.
Climate action is not only about protecting nature. It is about protecting your home, your health and your future. A strong climate agenda creates jobs, makes our energy bills lower, improves public transport, promotes innovation and strengthens Europe’s independence.
When Europe leads on bold climate policy, everyone benefits.
We believe Europe must move toward a climate neutral society as fast as possible. This means cutting emissions, restoring nature and transforming how we produce, consume and move. But it also means fairness. Climate action must lift people up, not leave them behind.
Our climate vision is built on three principles:
These principles guide our work in the European Parliament and shape everything we propose.
A climate safe Europe runs on renewable energy. Solar, wind, geothermal and community owned projects make our energy cleaner and more democratic. They also free us from fossil fuel dependence and keep energy prices stable.
We push for massive investment in renewable energy, modern energy grids and home insulation. By supporting clean technology, Europe can create millions of high quality jobs and secure its energy future. A renewable revolution is already underway. We are accelerating it.
Healthy forests, wetlands and oceans absorb huge amounts of carbon. They protect us from floods, cool our cities and provide food and water. Yet nature is under pressure from pollution, industry and intensive agriculture.
We support strong nature restoration laws, sustainable farming and clean air and water rules. Protecting biodiversity is not only about saving species. It is about creating a stable climate and a safe environment for all of us. When nature thrives, people thrive.
Climate policies will only succeed if they are fair. A just transition means supporting workers and communities as Europe shifts away from fossil fuels. It means accessible public transport, affordable energy, healthy homes and good quality green jobs.
We are committed to climate policies that protect the most vulnerable. No family should have to choose between heating and eating. No worker should be left behind as industries modernise. Equity must guide the climate transition from start to finish.
As Greens/EFA, we use every tool available to push climate policy forward. We negotiate legislation, build cross party alliances, challenge harmful proposals and bring scientific and community voices into EU debates.
Here are some of the areas where we fight hardest:
Because climate action touches all parts of society, we work across many different committees and policy areas. Our goal is simple. Make European climate policy stronger, fairer and faster.
Climate solutions are already all around us. Cities are redesigning streets to make public transport and cycling easier. Farmers are experimenting with regenerative methods that restore soil health. Communities are building renewable energy cooperatives. Researchers are creating new materials, new technologies and new ways of thinking about energy and resources.
Europe can lead the world in climate innovation, and we want people and communities at the heart of this transformation. Change happens faster when everyone is part of it.
The climate crisis can feel overwhelming, but momentum is on our side. More people are concerned, informed and engaged than ever before. Every campaign, every policy and every vote brings us closer to a fair and sustainable future.
With your support, the Greens/EFA can keep pushing the European Union toward bold climate leadership. Together, we can protect our planet, strengthen our democracy and build a Europe that works for everyone.
A greener future is within reach. Help us make it real.
