Speak up on housing: Tell Europe what you think

Everyone deserves a place to call home. But people across Europe are faced with unaffordable rents, eye-watering house prices and low-quality housing. An estimated 125 million people are afraid to turn on the heating because they might not be able to pay their energy bills. Over 1 million people don’t have a home at all.

Thanks to our pressure, the European Commission has begun to work on an affordable housing plan to tackle the housing crisis in the EU. And they want to know what you think through a public consultation.

This is our chance to fix Europe’s housing problem. We need to make sure the European Commission hears from as many citizens as possible – and not just housing developers. Housing is a human right. Let’s make it clear that EU citizens want action to guarantee everyone has a safe place to call home.

Want to help but feel uninspired? We've got you! With the help of some bright programmers, we have created a tool that makes it easy peasy to let the European policy makers know what you think. With the help of some (very well trained) AI, our tool will help you to write answers to the questions in the consultation.

If we all put in 5 minutes of our time, we have a chance to actually change European policy on housing. More affordable, sustainable and decent homes for all – because we all need a stable foundation to build our lives on.

If you are a professional working on housing, don’t hesitate to fill out the “experts” part of the public consultation on the European affordable housing plan directly on their website – it has more questions and the possibility to share your position papers.
