All I want for Christmas is pesticide reduction!
Support farmers. Protect soil. Reduce pesticides.
For the sake of food security, we need to support farmers to keep our soils healthy. That means we urgently need to reduce the use of chemical pesticides. These pesticides harm soils and kill everything around them: insects, birds and biodiversity at large!
We're asking for:
- The reduction of chemical pesticide use and risk by at least 50% by 2030
- The protection of soils, pollinators and biodiversity to ensure long-term food security in the EU
- Strong financial support for farmers to transition towards a phase-out of pesticides
We urgently need to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides. The EU is ready for this: more than a million EU citizens have signed a petition asking for a reduction of 80% by 2030. And even the European Commission is aiming for a 50% reduction by then!
But, this December, some European agriculture ministers want to postpone this crucial legislation. We need to stop them.
