Since Meloni’s right-wing government came to power in Italy, human rights, democracy and fundamental values are under threat. Rainbow families are being targeted.
❌ Italy's right-wing government is forcing city councils to stop registering the children of same-sex parents.
❌ They are also attempting to cancel the rights of LGBTIQ+ parents retroactively , turning them to second class citizens with no rights to their children.
❌ This endangers the children, threatening their wellbeing and right to a safe and loving family.
This is a clear step backwards for LGBTIQ+ rights, and yet another attack from Meloni’s right-wing government on human rights, democracy and fundamental values.
Threats and violence against the LGBTIQ+ community are on the rise all over in Europe. Last year was the most violent year in a decade towards the LGBTIQ+ community.
The foundation of a family is love. LGBTIQ+ rights are human rights. These will never be up for debate.
We are fighting to ensure rights for rainbow families all over Europe. For now, we ask you to let the families in Italy know that we have their backs. That we support them.
